Asuka-Fujiwara: Archaeological sites of Japan's Ancient Capitals and Related Properties

飛鳥・藤原の宮都

Archaeological sites of the Asuka-Fujiwara region where Japan's first centralized state emerged in the 6th–8th centuries. Its 19 component parts — palace sites, temple ruins and tombs — were inscribed on July 26, 2026, at the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, becoming Japan's 27th World Heritage property and 22nd cultural property.
